Our Judges

Vlad Dorofte grew up with films and animations he would watch on a video player during childhood. Also photography enthusiast, he started taking photography lessons in 2007 and in 2008 he won the 1st prize at an online photo competition juried (among others) by Dinu Lazar, an acclaimed Romanian photographer. During University he posted film critic reviews on different cinema sites and film blogs. Between 2009 and until 2014 he dedicated himself to directing short films and founded his own film production company: Gorun Film. Among other works he has been involved in are assistant directing, editing, co-producing and screenwriting related projects.

With over 15 years in the entertainment industry, Alessandro de Cristofaro is an award winning filmmaker and editor, the Godzilla movie being one of the many projects he has been involved in. His projects have been screened and awarded at several International Film Festivals. He loves short movies and believes them to be an amazing learning tool for new filmmakers as well as a great format of storytelling for more experienced directors.

With over 25 years in the entertainment industry teaching drama in theatre/film/tv, Jane Sanger is a casting director, film director, writer and editor who recently formed her own production company to make short and feature films. She really enjoys casting, having a great knowledge of emerging talent in her head as well as being able to call on spotlight, starnow, casting call pro and have cast for other people's films with success.

Alex Mill has her background in studio photography and video editing. As a freelancer, Alex has worked on various indie projects, wearing many hats in production and AD department roles. She's also an aspiring film producer and director. Her production company, theCANDOproduction is specialized in creating short films, promos and music videos. In 2016 Alex is is taking on the venture of directing her first feature film.

Benjamin A. Rider wrote and directed his first short film at the age of 16, entitled ‘Televisionhead’, and completed an amateur feature film, which was shot in two days, a year later in 2009. In winter 2012, whilst studying at Queen Mary University of London, he produced his first professional short film, ‘Aquarius’ Mule’ (2013). That summer he filmed the micro budget feature film ‘To Love Somebody‘ (2014), which was edited as Rider resumed his studies. Since graduating with a BA Hons in Film Studies, he has completed the genre-bending anthology ‘Seven Devils‘ (2015), and begun working on the features ‘Forever Fomorrow‘ (2016) and ‘Our Little Haven’ (2017). 'To Love Somebody', which was finally released after a copyright infringement case against one of its performers who had leaked the film prior to its release, has gone on to receive positive responses, as well as win the feature film and direction awards of merit from the IndieFEST Film Awards
